small urban pocket gem

Location
Yorkville, Toronto

For a long time the outdoor landscape of this house in Yorkville neighbourhood has been a mess with a mismatch of landscape materials and lack of adequate planting. The resulting design pulled the house together and unified it with a modernized outdoor space. In the back, rustic flagstone was removed in favour of modern and clean design. Fountain was added for as a backdrop view. Added green hedges and columnars enhanced the nature presence in the garden. The dining area was pulled closer to the house. Old and new wood screens, including the deck were matched and unified through grey charcoal stain.
At the front, colours were matched and the porch was retrofitted with new planter boxes to break up its verticality. The banding in the small front garden, composed of crushed rock and groundcover added depth to the design. This project is show cased in houzz.
