rustic oasis

Location
Leslieville, Toronto

Looking at this blank canvas lot the client wanted to have a defined backyard with a rustic feel. The existing fencing was reused and old wooden boards were cut down and laid in a different pattern to make new screens. The oval geometry was introduced within the rectilinear plan, breaking the homogeneous nature of the lot. The wooden furniture further accentuated the organic feel. The deck is a small pergola style structure gives emphasis to the dining area and provides vistas into interior rooms of the house. Rustic flag stones create an appealing contrast with the linear wood. Columnar trees around the perimeter anchor the garden further making it safe outdoor oasis for many years to come.
